You are bidding on a wonderful, old handmade and hand-painted cockatoo figurine made in the Czech Republic by Bohemia Royal Dux, of Bohemia Crystal. Royal Dux has been making these beautiful figurines for more than 150 years. This adorable bird is an older version of the white-and-pink large cockatoo that Royal Dux makes today. I have no way of knowing his exact age, but I do believe he's vintage. Some of the differences include the fact that this bird is 3cm shorter than the current version of the cockatoo, the pink on his feathers is more soft and diffuse, his eyes are darker and are painted differently, the leaves on the stump are different, and the base of the figurine is shorter. I think the expression on his face also looks somewhat older, wiser and more knowing (okay, so I'm anthropomorphizing a bit - but it's true!).This cockatoo stands approximately 15" (38cm) tall and is 4-3/8" (14cm) wide and 7" (18cm) deep. T is a green "Royal Dux - Made in Czechoslovakia" stamp on the figurine's underside, as well as the raised pink Royal Dux Bohemia triangle, and the impressed numbers 402 and either 51 or 61.
