T's still time to get an antique butter churn for your sweetie for Christmas! This was was pulled from and old barn just last month and it probably spend upwards of 75 years sitting t, forgotten. It's grungy, dusty, and dirty...looks like it came out of the barn yesterday. We like the grunge look so we thing it looks great but rest assured, it will clean up nicely. It appears t are some faint remnants of old green paint. Nevertheless...some Liquid Gold or lemon oil would really bring out the grain and color of this old timer.
The original carved splash cover is still t..it has a folksy wood notch carved into it which fits into a hold on the side of the opening of the churn which helps secure it during the churning process. Made of pine staves, this churn is secured by a large iron band at the top and two rolled iron bands below that. The bottom is in very good condition and t is no rot. Even the old dasher stick is included. This churn is 21 1/2 inches tall not including the dasher stick. If you include it, then it measures 29 1/2 inches high. The bottom has a diameter of 8 1/2 inches while the top measure 6 1/2 inches across. This treasure is in as-found condition and has not been altered by us at all.
