Up for consideration is a great set of matching four light American Art Deco Iron wall sconces. They measure 18 inches high by 8 inches wide. The have 4 lights with an off on switch under the platform that hold the sockets.... please see photos. They are made of cast iron with simulated hand wrought finials spear points trefoils etc....and have a slight two tone gold / bronze wash to some parts. They appear to be nickel or silverplated. They are stamped Lion Electric M...Co on the back and probably date from the mid 20's just after the Arts & Crafts movement was slowing up. Please allow 7 to 9 days for shipping thanks Sincerely John JjB During the mid 20's onwards Spanish and Italian Renaissance Revival inspired designs enjoyed some success in the North American market again cashing in on the backlash of those who saw the detached machine age , hard edged designs of Art Deco moving to far away from the human element. Hence hand made Artisan/ Craftsman/Metallurgist/ Designer Oscar Bach was one of the pioneers of which found his niche in New York catering to the up scale market. During the mid 20's onwards Bach's work and designs influenced many secondary lighting companies to incorporate such elements which in the last instance gave the general public a chance to indulge in the style without breaking the bank. Mind you I am sure that these sconces were not cheap in their day. These particiular sconces are from right in that time era. ...Athough these sconces were not manufactured by Bach and are mostly cast they are sophisticated in form and incorporate elements that were sought after during that time era ....hand wrought...differing metals into one design..old world charm...returning towards the appearance of candles for illumination.... etc. Condition: they retain their original old wiring which needs updating.
