Old Sheffield Silver Regency Period Lioness Tea Urn IMPRESSIVE OLD SHEFFIELD SILVER PLATED/ OLD FUSED PLATED TEA, COFFEE, OR HOT WATER URN; CLASSIC FORM; BEADED TRIM; FABULOUS HIGH RELIEF LIONESS HEADS w HANDLES; GREEK MOTIF DECORATION ON LEGS; EXCELLENT WORKING CONDITION; 1800-1820 This is a beautifully designed and hand crafted Old Sheffield fused silver plate tea, coffee, or hot water urn. From the English Regency Period. Made between 1800 and 1820. Fabulous quality, among the best you will find. Masterfully rendered in impressive form. Domed cover topped with ball finial. Elegant beaded trim on the body, shoulder, and upper rim. Raised on four ball feet. The body supported on four columns terminating in pairs of human feet at the base. Stunning lioness' heads hold the ring handles in their mouths on either side of the urn. Cast separately and applied, they are rendered in superb high relief. Skillfully hand chased. Greek motif faces ornament the juncture of the legs and the body. Also cast separately and applied, masterfully crafted in high relief with ornate detail in the facial features, hair, and headdress. Superior design on the original burner with one mechanism to remove the cover from the wick and a second to raise the wick to the appropriate height.
