A rare and old set of Solid Bronze Bookends, each depicting a raised bust of an Indian Chief with full Headdress. Exquisite! Well defined detail in their faces, the individual feathers in their headdress, their long braids and decorative necklaces. T is an arrow on the top corner of each and symbols on the bottom that I cannot identify. This very rich, aged patina adds beautiful character to this old set. Both are marked 'Solid Bronze'. I am unable to find a maker's mark on either, but I have done some research. Starting with the 'Encyclopedia of Bookends' - BronzeMet made a set identical to these BUT they were bronze gilded over cast iron and a hollowed out back and they, in that state, rated a 4 out of 5 on rarity. On the internet I found similar bookends, NOT solid bronze, have been sold in the 3 - 4 hundred $ range. I believe the solid bronze set that I offer for your consideration are older, highly collectible and more valuable. Whether you are a Native American Indian Collector, Bronze, Bookend or Art Collector this set would make an extraordinary addition to your collection or a wonderful place to start one! Together they weigh a substantial 5.13 lbs and each measures 4-3/8" tall x 4-3/8" wide x 2-2/8" depth. I would be happy to add 'felt' to the bottom if you wish. No reserve ~ enjoy!
