This is a nice vintage 19th century table top, pedestal mounted stereoscope. This is not a modern reproduction. Stamped on the end of the tongue is- American Lens, Trade Mark, Stereoscope. T is a finger pointing hand stamped at the back of the tongue and a hand holding the small hand tab on top of the card holder or slide. This small tab which should be attached to the brass friction plate under the card holder is the only thing missing on the scope. The stereoscope has the original cardboard hood which is naturally frayed around the edges, but is still in good shape for being made of such a fragile material. The tongue is straight and level and isn't twisted like many old wooden tongues are. The glass lenses are good and clear with no scratches or chips to the viewing areas. It as a brass mount under the scope which is attached to the top of the pedestal column by a brass screw and round tightening thumb screw which holds the scope tightly. The pedestal column is screwed into the round wood base, but I haven't tried to unscrew it because sometimes these are glued in and I don't want to possibly break it. Also stamped into the front of the lens board and behind the wood separator is- Pat'd. June 2(?), 1874. So it is no older than this date. The outfit stands about 12 1/2 inches as shown. Everything is good and solid with no loose parts. The 5 1/2 inch diameter round base is good and flat and not warped. I have a reserve of $75.00 on this to protect my investment, plus if it isn't worth that much to collectors I will just add it to my stereo collection.

Keep in mind the New USPS "Dimensional-Weight" may cause the shipping to be more than actual weight costs for packages over 1 cubic foot and light weight for zones 5 to 8 from my zip!
