Description: An awesome, very substantial Taxco link bracelet, the one offered in this auction has the additional advantage of being unusually big at 8" long (in fact, including the closure, which in this case adds to the overall length, it comes to about 8 1/4") and a very generous 1 5/16" wide! Fully hallmarked according to post-1948 standards, this is an example of late 1940s - 1950s Mexican silversmithing with an unusual stylized tree and tablet design. The bracelet consists of twenty four individual links, held together with double round connectors, a construction feature that makes this an unbelievably easy piece to wear as its fluidity allows it to comform to the movement of your wrist. Half of the links have been hand-cut and chased to look like stylized trees while the rest are oblong "tablets" with crushed turquoise mosaic laid in a black matrix. At either end of each link, applied silver sps add dimension and a touch of fun to the design. The bracelet has a double hook closure, which is very secure and so tight, you might want to ease it a little bit by opening up the hooks slightly - it's a decision that rests upon the final owner to make. As mentioned in the titles, this is a fairly substantial bracelet. On my scale, which is not a jeweler's one but pretty accurate, it registers at more than 2 oz, so I would say that
