Old Time Shop keepers Antique Victorian Store Door Bell The spring has a fine crack part of the way through the hole w it fastens to the door. When hanging it up by the hole an added washer would reinforce the spring and prevent further damage.The Brass Bell is 3 1/8" in diameter and 2 3/4" tall. Adding for the spring that sticks out the top it is 8 " tall and the spring is 5 " wide.This would look great on a door of your restoration project. A bell like this hangs on the inside of a store front or shop and it rings when the door is opened or slams shut. The bell rings when the ball striker inside shakes back and forth and it gives a clear ring. I polished the brass bell and if you want it to stay that shiney you would have to polish it or add some laquer finish.. I left the inside of the bell as it was to show its age and vintage origins. The great vintage verdigris green inside and the rust on the bell striker shows the age of the bell.The color of the bell is bright gold or yellow and the brass has a great ring to it.The bell is not cracked and t are very tiny scratches that you should expect for a bell this old. The appearance of a chip in the base is a casting flaw which likely was cause when the brass was poured into to sand.
