This is an auction for one 1940s Vintage TRIFARI Crown Sterling Brooch or Pin in the shape of a coach, stagecoach, or wagon! This is an amazing piece of TRIFARI, expertly executed and stunning in design. The wagon measures approximately 1 1/2" wide and is about an 1 1/4" in width at its widest. The pin features gorgeous stones or "jewels"; red in the wheels, sapphire as part of the coach, and along the top border, small rhinestones that look like little diamonds. What an exquisite piece!!!!!The two front wheels move when pushed around in a circle, and they feature red garnet-colored stones. The sapphire stones are rectangular in shape. All stones appear to be present with the exception of one small clear rhinestone that my daughter with her eagle eyes noticed was missing, this is at the top right corner.
When you flip the piece over, the back is marked STERLING and has the Crown Trifari mark. Also, beneath that written on a slant is PAT. PEND. We have done extensive research in our many books on costume jewelry and have tried to utilize the web and cannot find a pin or brooch that looks exactly like this. Maybe it is a circus piece? It is definitely early Trifari, most probably from the 1940s because of the Sterling, and this period is when they are famous for their Sterling work. Maybe you can identify the line that this magnificient brooch is from? Maybe it would make a nice addition to your Trifari or costume jewelry collection?
