Selling this Rare American Gothic Revival Shelf. Older, professional quality, refinish (Appears In Picture Way More Shiny Than It actually Is! {Flash!})...All original otherwise; with square nail construction (3 or 4 round nails have been added over years and years of service). No "new" repairs or problems at all...Very sturdy (not "wiggly"). Actually far more detailed in design than I could capture with my "new" camera... Four "stylized" "scratch carved" Balls w/applied handles are the main feature of this beautiful shelf! Gothic style arch is another; along with the "scratch carved" Accents which helps date the piece. The only very minor apologies are: A couple of newer - "old" - nails. *** 1 small, tight, stabilized crack in back board. *** 1 small carved "V" shaped chip out of front edge of shelf (some kid used his "new pocket knife"; long, long, ago). *** 5 small nail holes on shelf's surface (can not even be seen when shelf is in use). *** These are all very minor apologies for a shelf of this age (ca. 1860 - 1880). Very minor when you consider its age, its use, and for this type of original construction (no replaced wooden parts at all). This walnut shelf measures about 10 ½"Wide x 14"Tall x 5"D. (shelf board is 4 ¾"Deep).As with all of my items...Since this is a true antique it has some very minor "age/use problems" (all disclosed in my ad). In my opinion...Gently wipe it down with wax or high quality polish...Let it dry...And Gift It -OR- Enjoy it your self in your own home for years and years to come! As with all my hanging items this comes with the hardware you need to put it up as soon as it arrives! What an absolutely fabulous item to Give With Pride -or- Display as a Focal Point of the Antique Décor in Your Home!
