This is a very nice old functional locket in good condition. I was told by the woman I purchased it from that it is indeed a very old Victorian piece. I am not an expert in jewelry or antiques and I hope it was represented accurately to me. I did take it to a jeweler who informed me that he believe it to be made of gold plated brass. I have not been able to find a stamp or markers mark but I did find something very interesting when I removed the plastic & fabric on the inside w the photo would be. Behind t, scratched into the metal are the roman numerals XXXII (see photo) which is our number 32. Anyone who would like to tell me what they think this means, please do. I welcome the information.
