From an estate sale, a tall Weis oak wood box with dovetail corners. This is a tall box with a metal plate and rod in the bottom but no sliding piece and the rod is under the metal plate. I'm not sure what it's original purpose was, but it could be used for most anything - papers, treasures, photos, etc. The Weis Hand Made sticker is still on the front and a portion of another sticker is inside showing it came from an office supply store on Fifth Avenue, looks like Saks. Hinges appear to be brass and a brass slotted strip inside keeps the lid upright when opened. The opening of the lid is curved. It measures 9-1/2" tall, 5-5/8" wide, and 6-1/4" deep. Condition is very good though t are a few scrapes and scratches in the finish. The worst scrape in the finish appears at the same level on each side and one can be seen in the photo about half way up. The wood is not gouged and all scratches could be sanded out if you choose to do that.
