OLD WEST (or 19 th Century commercial Civilian) SADDLE BAGSThese all leather, 19 th century vintage saddle bags may date back to the period 1860's through 1900. This pattern was a common commercial civilian pattern both custom made or, available by catalog during that period. They are NOT Confederate issue nor Federal military issue. They are 39 inches long from end to end. Each pocket is 15 x 11 x 3 inches with no makers marks or other identifications. Condition: Leather is very soft and pliable but they do show their age and period use. T is some stitching pulling apart in two places and 3 of the four buckles are missing. Also, each pocket handle has one end torn but I think all of this could easily be fixed or, it could simply be a collectable. However, I do not recommend them for hard use as I do not think they would hold up. The tag on them says they originally sold as Civil War saddle bags for $275. Not sure w this came from. They are part of a large historic saddle collection being purged from an long time collector in Memphis. Sold as is. Shipping cost: Buyer pays shipping and may be more than indicated depending upon destination! Payment: Check, Money Order or PAY PAL accepted. Contact me for more information and questions.
