Offering an old Clipper ??? ship model found at a local estate. The family was selling only a few items as one of the brothers was keeping the house and some contents. The daughter I spoke with didn't know the history of the piece; from the few things I saw their dad liked Nautical things and fishing ( I bought his Penn reels as well). The ship was expertly made and is highly detailed from the sails, rigging to the tiny anchor and oh of course Old Glory! My pictures can't capture the one man at the wheel, but he is t I don't know the date of the ship but am guessing it is at least 40 + years old. T are two wires that come out of the ship I think the ship may light up??? the wires have a purpose I just don't know what they do. The model makers waves are lifelike as well and the boat displays nicely just like it's sailing around the cape. I'm using a Buy it Now and if no one wants the ship I'll keep! I have collected Sailors Valentines and seashells since I was a kid and love Nautical things. This is a very finely made piece of American Folk Art. Also the ship is gorgeous from all angles It protrudes just slightly wider then my mantle I have a mirror t and it looked great! Selling as-found see teeny tiny spider web at the front of the ship :O Dimensions: Stands approx. 20 inches tall by 29 inches, width is 7 inches measured at the wood base the sails protrude slightly wider then that. Condition: One mast ? has a clean break towards the top a few loose rigs, the ship was not incased in glass the sails show general age (patina) appear to be made of a linen cloth. Marked on the back Jeannette ? II Hampton Va. STORMSLS on front plaque and back of the ship STORMSLS and a plaque that reads Rounding The Horn. Model Maker C. Huntemman of Spokane proudly painted his name on the front of the waves. I think the wood base of the ship is mahogany or is made to look like it. Thanks for looking and happy shopping -Hedi
