Welcome to a Early Girl Auction Up for your consideration is a 18-19c. American Hand Hewn Large Wooden Bowl from a Plantation Slave Cabin . This might be burl, I am not sure so I took close up photos so you could see for yourself. This is a rare chance to own a Museum quality artifact. This bowl was purchased several years back from a elderly lady. The lady's father had been hired back in the early 20thc to clean out the runins of a Old Plantation. She said he tore down and hauled off the remains of several slave cabins, barn/outbuildings. She had a whole garage fulll of old tools, farm items, crocks and wooden items and such. I purchased it all and t are some real finds. This bowl is from that lot. She told me the bowl was found in one of the slave cabins. It is huge and heavy, all hand hewn. Probably indian made and slave used. WOW what a super Primitive find. You don't see many things that date to the 18th century. I have been saving this to put on before christmas so it is. What a great present for your favorite collector. It is solid wood with the best Patina. Large 20 inches across and about 5-6 inches high. Hand Hewn marks all over it. In the photos you see two white cushions that have been put on the bottom so it didnt scratch my table. They can easily be taken off. Please see photos for condition. Very sound and solid. read more
