This is a older semi antique camel Jahaz or Dowry from Turkoman people, Turkomanistan....This dowry is usually made by the bride from recycled fabric and used on her wedding night to decorat her camel. Asmylyk is another Turkoman dowry piece but usually used to decorate brid's horse as it is smaller in size...Jahaz is usually used on one night of her life only and passed on to other members of the family sometimes from mother to daughter and so on through the generations....It may be used on very special occasions but usually just on wedding nights...This is an old piece so does have wear..All pieces done beautifully and all lined. Fabric used is old Russian fabric.... Decorated with beads, metal disks, rings, even a key, all have a meaning to them and a reason for hanging them on the Jahaz, feathers as good luck on Jahaz pieces, this is authentic Jahaz , complete, intact, great piece to have. fabric at the front is faded in places that shows the age and not a defect ((last pic), small tear on the lining at the back but front of the jahaz ok ((see 3rd pic), at the back has tree of horns, email for many more pics....Size is 5' 5" x 4' 4" wide....CC 1940's to 1950's , it is clean no stains, usually kept in very good condition as it is a like a wedding dress or items one uses on her wedding night to us in the west, a precious piece to keep, it has no dirt or stains, clean.
