Summer Olympics Games PARIS 1900 Jeux Olympiques d'été PARIS 1900 II OLYMPIAD PARIS 1900 VERY RARE !!! SILVER ON BRONZE PARTICIPANT MEDAL ENGRAVED BY : Jules-Clément Chaplain (born in Mortagne/France, 1839-1909) entered the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris in 1857, studying sculpture under Jouffroy and medals under Oudine. In 1863 he received the Grand Prix de Rome for medal-engraving and worked in Rome from 1864 to 1868. He exhibited regularly at the Salon from 1863. Chaplain received a first-class medal in 1878. In 1881 his status as one of the leading French medallists was recognized by his election to the Académie des Beaux-Arts. In 1895 he was selected for the position of Art Director at the Sèvres Manufactory. Chaplain was created Commander of the Legion of Honor in 1900.
