OMI OVERLAND UNION PACIFIC E.M.D. DD35 "A" BRAND NEW CUSTOM PAINT Sadly my planned dream layout will not become reality, so I'm selling the rolling stock that I acquired. Today, I'm listing my beautiful Overland DD35-A double diesel. I'm also listing a matching DD35-B in a separate auction. In a search for a suitable diesel replacement for its Big Boy steam locomotives, the Union Pacific railroad bought double diesel behemoths from all of the major locomotive builders. The units from E.M.D. were the most successful and served the Union Pacific for many years. This locomotive consisted essentially of two GP35 road locomotives on a single chassis. It was a gigantic beast riding on four axle trucks. The model faithfully reproduces a host of fine details. The model also rides on four axle trucks with each axle individually sprung. Copious photo-etched material is used for the fans and air intakes. The custom paint manifests itself in much extra detail work, such as rust colored couplers. This will make for a spectacular unit on any layout or in any display case, especially when paired with the matching "B" unit. (separate auction)
