On3 Brass Rio Grande Southern Rotary Snowplow #2 Factory Painted. Produced in Korea for Berlyn Locomotive Works in 1999. Stored Since Original Purchase. MINT. NO RESERVE AUCTION. The Rio Grande Southern Railroad passed through some of the most scenic mountain territory of any rail line in the world. Keeping the passes of Colorado's Southern San Juans clear during the heavy Winter snows was largely the task of Rotary #2. Built in 1892, it was one of two rotary plows on the RGS roster. Similar rotary No. 1 was used only once on a failed snow-clearing mission in 1892. But No.2 served the rail line until a boiler explosion crippled it in 1949. It was scrapped around 1950. This model has been stored in its original box since purchased new. It is in every way a new mint model. The precisely-detailed blades are powered by a small motor which spins the blades when the unit is energized. It has been test run and performs flawlessly. The headlight is powered with a constant intensity circuit. This remarkable model features doors and access hatches which can be gently opened to reveal the detailed boiler within the plow body. The fit and finish on all three components is superb. The model is supplied with the plow unit, a covered coal tender, as well as an auxiliary tender which always accompanied the plow.
