ON4QX/AC4 QSL Card Tibet Himalayan Expedition 1955 Rare For those who collect QSL cards from Tibet, this one is a must for your collection. I have been buying and selling QSL cards for over 25 years and this is the only copy of this QSL that I have seen. The original operation only produced a few QSOs with worldwide DXers. This may be your only chance to find this particular card. The operator was Sir Peter Holmes who a mountaineer and author of several books of his travels in Northern India, Sikkim and Tibet in the 1950's. Sir Holmes later went on to become one of the CEOs of Shell Oil. The back of the card has a note written by ON4QX, who acted as QSL manager, that he was quite surprised that Frank, W8QJR (now a silent key) was able to have a QSO with this station, since they were only testing the equipment and antenna out. The transmitter ran 62 watts into a wire antenna. Frank had a contact with ON4QX/AC4 on April 21, 1955 at 1:10 A.M. on A.M. Phone. The QSL is an over sized card measuring 4 1/2 by 6 inches. The card was folded in half to fit a standard size envelope when mailed and has blunting to the top edge as well as the corners. I would grade the card as in fair to good condition. I have set a reserve that is lower that what the recent AC4 cards have sold for. This is a rare card, don't let this one get away. This is a read more
