This Werner Uhl (6 inches tall) is part of a sale of my collection of German Op Art ceramics, which has been shown alongside 125 other pieces in two museum exhibitions on the topic. The exhibition, "German Op-Art Ceramics: 1955-1975", has been the only definitive academic study on this genre. It included a large section on Rosenthal designer Martin Freyer, new research on Scherzer designers Herbert Oberender and Werner Uhl, and all of the production of the elusive Heinrich Fuchs, of whom little is known. Please see the images posted after the piece to read excerpts from the brochure and see installation shots from the exhibits: the first show was at the University of Arizona Art Museum in 2012, and the second at the Art Museum at New Mexico State University in 2014.The brochure was written with a grant from the UA and was compiled from archival research in Selb, Bavaria. A copy is free with your order. Thanks go especially to Petra Werner at Rosenthal for her help in the original endeavor.Lawrence Gipe, Associate Professor of Art, UA.
