Unbelievable find from a "Living" veteran of the 82nd Airborne 505th PIR! These maps and many many more were saved by this veteran for the last 62 years. Never before have these been in a collection! This veteran was a Sergeant at the end of the war and had been involved in every action of the 82nd starting in North Africa, Italy, D-Day, Market Garden, Ardennes, Battle of the Bulge & Germany. Description: Four maps of Holland from the Market Garden Operation. These four maps were folded together and are regressive in their scale. The smallest map is an actual Drop Zone map for the area around Groesbeck. Map 1: The first map starts at a scale of 1:250,000 and is titled Walcn-Amsterdam. The GSGS is 4042 and was published by the war office in 1943. This map show Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague, Arnhem and of course Nijmegen. T is a tear at the bottom of the map that was taped. Looks to be a period repair, the tape is very old. Map 2: The next map starts at a scale of 1:100,000 and is titled 'S Hertogenbosch. The GSGS is 2541 and was published by the war office in 1913 and 3rd edition 1943. This map shows Nijmegen and Arnhem.
