Original HARPER'S WEEKLY Illustrated Newspaper, (New York) dated July 11, 1885. COMPLETE in 16 pgs, Folio (16" x 11 1/4"). IN NEAR FINE CONDITION!Featured in this issue is the near full page image gallery "SKETCHES OF GARDEN CITY" (Long Island, NY) containing THREE (3) original wood engraved views: "ST. PAUL'S SCHOOL" (5 1/4" X 9 1/4"), "SEE HOUSE (6 1/4" X 9 1/4") AND STABLES (2" X 3')".The accompanying article "THE STEWART TITLE-DEEDS" reads, "The consecration of the Memorial Cathedral at Garden City, Long Island, on June 2, meant more than was indicated by the mere ceremonial important as that was in the eyes of Churchmen. The title-deeds which Mrs. Stewart laid on the Cathedral alter, in the presence of the great congregation of bishops, priests, and laymen, conveyed as a free gift thirty-seven acres of land, with the episcopal residence, or See House, and all its belongings, the superb building of St. Paul's School for Boys, and the site ofor the proposed St. Mary's School for Girls. With the title-deeds t was also deposited a bong guaranteeing the annual inclome of $15,000 for the Cathedral and the schools. We present with engravings of the See House, its stables and out-buildings, and of St. Paul's School...Garden City, when this scheme is realized, will become an educational and ecclesiastical centre, around which will cluster a multitude of accessories which must make it in many respects one of the most attractive places of residence in the country...".Additional illustrated articles in this issue include: "LAWN TENNIS IN PROSPECT PARK, BROOKLYN", "(Henry M.)
