These are three of the original, of about 50 each , US,+ NY Worlds Fair Flags and Private First Day of Covers, to fly around the world with Howard Hughes in his epic breaking around the world flight in 1938 in a promotion for the 1939 NYs Worlds Fair. These were the only (3) nonessential items allowed on board the flight because of uncompromising weight restrictions. These are from the estate of AL Lodwick who was Howard's Flight Operations Manager, of whom I am the recipient of the items from that flight. The flags are 8" x 12" in its excellent original folded form, the FDC is also in excellent mint condition. ****The package label is not part of the auction****merely a reference of authenticity. All Items I sell from the Lodwick estate come with a signed LOA by me and are all the original items of that flight. I will also enclose to the winning bidder a letter of provenance.
