Oriental and Western Siberia: A Narrative of Seven Year's Explorations and Adventures in Siberia, Mongolia, The Kirghis Steppes, Chinese Tartary, and Part of Central Asia by Thomas Witlam Atkinson. With a Map and Numerous Illustrations. New York: Harper & Brothers, Publishers 1865. Apparent First Edition (1865 date on title page with no additionmal printings listed). A fairly clean ex-library copy with a paper label on the spine, a library bookplate on the front pastedown, a few numbers written on a few prelims, a library name stamp at the top of the first page of text and a card pocket on the rear pastedown. Bound in Half Leather (Spine and corners) with paper covered boards. The covers show wear, the spine shows moderate wear. The hinges and binging is tight. Some pages show a light damp stain around the outside margins (see pic). Otherwise, all pages are present and in good condition. I carefully leafed through the volume and all 52 of the Illustrations are present. Includes a large fold out map titled "Map to Accompany Mr. Atkinson's Travels in Siberia, Mongolia, Chinese Tartary, and Part of Central Asia", the map has a 3 inch closed tear, otherwise the map is in good condition (see pic). 533 pages including the index.
