New old stock! OLD, OLD, OLD STOCK!!! This amazing vintage dress pattern is not a copy! My Ladies' Home Journal original "Home Patterns" are stillfactory folded in their original envelopes. When I purchased them in 1992, they were still in the original display cabinet from a store that had closed in 1923. They were printed in 1919-1923. The pattern tissue has held up very well. Unfold slowly, and use a cool or slightly warm iron to flatten them. They are from a time before patterns added seam allowances, so you'll want to add a seam allowance as you cut. Also, you may want to copy onto paper or cheap fabric first to experiment with the fit, as these were designed for our grand-parents' and great-grandparents' figures. The condition of the envelopes varies. All have browned, but some are still crisp and others are creased and/or crumbly. Unless stated otherwise, all descriptive info and sewing instructions are legible on the envelope. Brightness and contrast of photos have been enhanced so details will show up better on eBay. If you plan to use the envelope for mixed media, please be aware that it is probably a bit darker than the photos. Sewing instructions are printed on the back of the envelope, rather than on folded papers inside, and aren't as complete as modern instructions.
