Wallace Silversmiths in Wallingford Connecticut issued this limited edition Christmas Bell as its premier bell in a forthcoming series in 1971. It was designed to mark the season of "Good Will Toward Men". This bell and the ensuing series became instantly and outrageously popular. Today, the first edition of this bell is highly-sought by collectors to compliment or initiate their collection. The original 1971 version is the most desired. This bell needs one thing only prior to being presented as a treasured Christmas gift and that is a light cleaning with silver polish. Throughout its lifetime in this box - an unbelieveable 36 years already - it has tarnished. I do not clean items I offer on eBay as each person has their own way of doing it - and besides part of the thrill of buying any antique or collectible is to clean it up (or not) as we personally see fit. The original box and pamphlet accompany this bell. In terms of condition - the bell is completely free of any and all damage. It is not dinged, bent, nicked, scratched or dented in any way. Its original box is showing signs of use - with little nicks and t in the foil and soft edges around the base of the box. The pamphlet itself is in very nice condition and I have photographed the back of it to show w its former owner inscribed it with the passage - First 1971 ... Christmas
