Very rare early (c1870s) Japanese GETA ice skates. Blades are about 11 1/2 inches long and have inverted heart designs. The bottom of the skates are stamped SUWAKO (Lake Suwa in NAGANO Prefecture). T is a repair to one of the skates but the condition is very good for the age and with the location stamped on the bottom (Nagano would later host the Winter Olympics), this is a very desirable and rare early Japanese skating artifact.
