For bid is an original circa 1900’s R. J. Waters photograph of the railroad “LOOP” on the Sacramento River Canon” near Dunsmuir in Northern California. This terrific photograph is printed on albumen paper and is mounted on a piece of old Victorian mount board. It features railroad / train tracks at the right area of the photo, with another set visible below, along the left edge of the canyon. The photo is dark black (not sepia as many of these photos were). Waters’ name appears in the lower right corner of the image, below a large boulder. Rogers’ negative number appears to have been “No.439.” This photo has great clarity. This was a published image, as I was able to find another image of this scene, published in a book with the title, “Loop of the Sacramento River Canon, Near Dunsmuir, Calif.” The photo has rounded corners within the rectangular photograph. There is Victorian writing below the image on the mount board. The photo itself measures just over 7 inches by 5 inches. The mount board measures about 8 3/4 inches wide by just under 5 1/2 inches tall. Waters was a prolific photographer who took many early shots of California and Nevada, including Lake Tahoe and other rural landscape images. Please let me know if you have any questions whatsoever.
