This is a wonderful conditon booklet of 12 pages on the service and history of General David Birney who was a brigade commander under the famous union general Phil Kearny. This 1863 printed booklet is in fine conditon for being a 130+ year old paper item, with no major damage or decay we find. The book describes the General role in key battles and mentions the wear and use of the famous "Kearny badge" as worn by veteran of the battle seasoned Kearny division. The book was presented by a individual and in the inside front cover he has written some more history of General Birney, that occured after this book was written. Gen Birney was key commander at Gettysburg and later died of disease before the war was over. The booklet is a great history research tool and a nice display item in CW collection. is a link to a bio on the general with concise history. /wiki/David_B._Birney Buyer to pay 5.50 for shipping and insurance is extra if you want it.
