Offered is an original Imperial Russian Hussar's tunic which was worn in the 1945 movie "A Royal Scandal" with Tallulah Bankhead, Charles Coburn, Anne Baxter, William Eythe and Vincent Price. This was worn by one of the headliners, William Eythe whose name appears on the old "Western Costume Company" label in the jacket. The tunic is a rare original Czarist Russian era tunic with dark teal body trimmed on the collar, cuffs, breast and rear in fine toned gold braid. Most buttons are replacements but resemble the original. The interior is quilted jade green silk with the named costume company label. T is some separation in the lining but it is 100 years old. The gold tress is in good condition with some fraying around the collar. The wool is amazingly sound and bright with a BB sized moth hole and a little wear to the wool. Not bad. I researched Eythe some and he was a 4-F actor who was unfit for WW2 duty but used instead by Hollywood as an attractive leading man. In this particular movie, his role as Col. Alexei Chernoff was originally supposed to go to Tyrone Power but he fell ill and the role went to Eythe. Lots of big stars in this movie and this is a great piece of movie memorabilia as well as a rare military tunic that would be prized by a military collector. Comes with papers from the auction house w it was purchased and a read more
