Outstanding and original Japanese woodblock print book with prints depicting the Great Ansei Earthquake of 1855; book published in 1856 soon after the actual event. Volume measures 6 1/4 X 9 inches (closed) and has 44 pages, 6 of which have bold woodblock prints, including a fine doublepage image of a Japanese Sumo wrestler helping people flee the fires that ravaged the city of Edo soon after the quake struck. Original covers, contents complete and in very good shape for the age. GUARANTEED AUTHENTIC.
