Previously unseen and very rare original miniature Japanese woodblock print book about the Satsuma Rebellion, published by the Imperial Meiji government on June 21, Meiji 10 = 1877.Â The Satsuma Rebellion, made famous by Tom Cruise's movie LAST SAMURAI, was the last major armed uprising against the newly established Meiji government and lasted from January 29 to September 24, 1877, making this volume a "real-time" publication printed during the actual fighting.Â The cover depicts a Japanese government soldier cutting down a Satsuma Samurai Loyalist with his sword.Â Inside the volume t are 12 pages of color woodblock prints showing events of the war up to the publication date of this volume, June, 1877.Â This is a very rare miniature volume measuring 3 X 4 1/2 inches (closed).Â Great colors, impressions, and condition.Â A superb artifact of this historic event.
