Original National Guard, State of New York Marksman Badge Seen so often on old photographs from the Indian Wars period: Marksmanship Badges. This one was used by a member of National Guard of State of New York. Date on the bar, second one down, 1881 over the word "MARKSMAN". The round medal part has a seal on the front and "NATIONAL GUARD STATE OF NEW YORK" written in circular shape on the back. Three of the bars, the ones without year, have a stamp on the back (manufacturer?) reading: TIFFANY and something underneath it (this in such small letters that I can hardly make it).The whole badge is made of brass, including chain links connecting individual pieces.
