This is an outstanding original WWII vintage IDâe(tm)d Marine Corps officerâe(tm)s uniform. It is high quality and was custom tailored by Jesse Busillo of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. T is no sized marked, but it measures approximately 18-1/2âe from armpit-to-armpit. T is a fantastic early pin-backed ribbon bar over the left pocket with the ultra rare Fleet Marine Corps Reserve Medal, American Defense, and American Campaign. T is also a set of sterling silver marked pin-backed Captainâe(tm)s bars in the left shoulder. The bars on the right shoulder on not present, and t are no EGA devices. The jacket is in very good condition for its age with no damage and only minimal signs of use. All of its bronze buttons are present.
A tag located in an inner pocket identifies this uniform to a âeoeCapt. K.M. Penningtonâe and is dated April 18, 1943. Penningtonâe(tm)s name is also handwritten on the lining of one shoulder. According to internet research, Kermit M. Pennington was born in Illinois in 1914. He was commissioned as a 2nd Lt. on July 1, 1936 at the Marine Barracks, Navy Yard, Philadelphia, PA. From 1938 âe" 1940, he served in the USMCR attached to the General Service Unit, 9th Reserve District. The details of his WWII service have not been researched. The values of IDâe(tm)d USMC officer uniforms like this should skyrocket when HBOâe(tm)s new âeoeThe Pacificâe series airs next year.
