I will be listing many untouched, fresh to the market incrediable 18th & 19th century antiques I'm picking from a mid-18th century Maine farm house & barn near Castine, Maine I have gotten in to in the last few days. Nothing was thrown away in over 250 years as is common up in Maine, all of it was stuck into the barn & attic as it was outdated. You never see this stuff! VERY VERY rare 17th century or early 18th century untouched, uncleaned, just as found two days ago by myself in a barn of a 18th century coastal Maine house near Castine, Maine ember / coal carrier. Used to carry coals from one fire to another in the house, or used to pass over a bed to warm it. I've showed to some collectors and a few dealers and the consensus is that is probably Dutch or English 17th century or very early 18th century. Just needs to be cleaned, no holes, heavy pitting etc, just needs to be cleaned down. I used some oil on it to be able to open the sliding iron top (see pics). Measures 24" long in total length, the ember carrying box measures 5"x8". Cast brass rosette in the middle of the pan top, this is typical Dutch 17th decoration. Entirely hand forged and hand made, very high quality metal work, not rough primitive American. Very very rare 17th century early 18th century probably Dutch maybe English ember carrier. Please see the old user name for over 1300 positive feedback. I no longer have a partner so the old name is caput now. Everything else is tha same now. I will do as usual and drive around Maine every day in my battered pick up truck and pick the best stuff as possible as always. Thanks.
