This is an original full dress helmet of the 1880's through 1914 period. It belonged to the 5th Dragoon Guards a cavalry regiment which served in the Nile expediton in the late 1880's in India and the Boer war. The helmet is all brass and complete with very minor dings. It has a red and white horse hair plume. The top rosette that fits above the plume has been replaced, but does not effect it's overall value. It has the original chin strap and the original leather interior. The leather on the inside of the front visor is a bit worn. T are markings on the inside of the brass rim which are..5DG ..664..834. The last time these helmets were worn was in 1914 before WWI. This would be a nice chance to own an original Victorian-GeorgeV period helmet to a famous cavalry regiment. I am listing the matching tunic to this helmet for the 5th Dragoon Guards.
