This is an ORIGINAL, US, ROCK ISLAND ARSENAL marked, 1907 dated, FLAMING BOMB Marked, M-1905 BAYONET for the M-1903 SPRINGFIELD RIFLE. This bayonet was arsenal re-worked at some time between World War I and the middle of World War II, ad the blade is blued and the grips are the WWII pattern black plastic variety. This bayonet is in a World War II era Fiberglass Scabbard with the U.S. Flaming Bomb marked metal throat. Many Early Pre-World War I 16" SPRINGFIELD Bayonets were pressed in to service in the early days of World War II, being used by the MARINES and Soldiers in the bitter fighting in the Pacific in 1942-1943, as well as the early battles in the North African Desert in 1942-1943. Yes, this bayonet is in used condition. Yes, the blade has been sharpened. An interesting bayonet for the collector that is looking for a two war veteran bayonet.
