This is a very early Scarce Vintage Original & Complete TIP TOP THE BLACK PORTER wind up toy made by FERDINAND STRAUSS in the early 1920’s. This important piece of Black Americana is in superb 100% Original Condition with NO replaced or missing parts. The tin Black Porter is dressed in yellow knickers, a blue over coat and a red cap and pushes a hand cart. The paint is almost 100% there and is all Original. NO TOUCH UPS! The arms are original to the toy and are nice and straight. The two factory painted white eyes and painted red lips are clearly seen. The carts handles are straight. All of the original pins are present. All of the tabs are nice and straight and were never fooled with. The seams are near perfect with no gaps. This toy was never opened. There are no dents and the tin is very straight. The complete Original Decal located on the front of the cart is strong and pristine looking and reads STRAUSS TIP TOP TRADE MARK FERDINAND STRAUSS NEW YORK USA. The toy stands just under 6 inches tall. The wind up mechanism is strong and unwinds freely when the toy is held up, but when the toy is put down it moves sluggishly on a smooth surface. This is a true survivor toy that is very clean and displays great. This almost 100 year old toy is being sold in true auction form, with a low opening bid and no hidden reserve. You would have to long and hard to find a nicer example.
