This is a 1936 Gibson L-50, serialnumber 765B-17, in very good (for its age), original condition. The original tobacco sunburst finish showsnormal playing wear, and the back of the neck shows some capo wear that has worn mostly smooth with age, behind the first three frets. The frets show slight wear, and the guitar appears to have been professionally re-fretted; there must have been a lot of divots in the fingerboard in between the first three frets, but it has also been professionally filled and sanded some time ago. The neck is straight, the string action is low, so the guitar plays and sounds fine. The tuning keys are open-back Grovers, but we are not sure if they are the originals. ‘ Gibson ’ is inlaid in pearl on the headstock. The pickguard is original, as is the adjustable bridge and trapeze tailpiece. The fingerboard width at the stringnut is 1 ¾ inches, and the neck contour is a medium depth pronounced ‘V’ shape. There is one hairline crack about 4 inches long, on the top in the middle of the trapeze tailpiece. It runs parallel to the center seam and about ¾ of an inch to the treble side. It appears absolutely stable and has probably been there for decades. There are no other cracks in the body or neck or headstock repairs, or other issues that have not already been mentioned above. The guitar weighs a light 4 pounds, read more
