welcome to my auction. selling better vintage pieces and autographs. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Excedingly RARE original 1957 SONNY BOY WILLIAMSON concert venue poster. This caliber of material is now virtually non-existent, and with the exception of a few handbills available and t at auction (all sold in excess of $600), i cannot recall ever seeing a Sonny Boy poster of this size and vintage offered in more than a decade. Williamson was THE premier postwar R&B Folk-Blues harmonic-based performer of his time and profoundly influenced such seminal rockers as Clapton, Jimmy Page, the Yardbirds, Rolling Stones, Animals, etc. He was even slotted to join Dylan's troupe and The Band just prior to his untimely death in 1965. T were many imitators, but Williamson was the real deal, and 45 years later, his legacy is still alive and kicking. Tremendous graphics and images abound on this 14 x 22 inch boxing style relic, silk-screened on heavy cardboard, including fantastic photo of Williamson in his prime - blues harp in hand. Other R&B hitmakers "Shirley & Lee" and "Guitar Chilipot Red" (Williamson's backing group, essentially, Excello Records sidemen) help date this piece to 1957.
