This is one of the original John Fitzgerald Kennedy 'bust sculpture' awards given to the 'International Ladies Garment Workers Union' at their annual Convention, held in Miami Beach in May of 1965.
They were awarded to acknowledge the contributions the I.L.G.W.U. had made to the advancement of women's rights. (Bobby Kennedy was one of the presenters.)
It weighs 3 pounds and stands 9" tall. This incredible rendering of JFK by the noted sculptor Robert Berks is hauntingly beautiful, and has a powerful presence, even for its size.
There is an engraved brass plaque on the back of the pedestal that reads:
"A PRESENTATION OF 65th ANNIVERSARY CONVENTION
I.L.G.W.U. MIAMI BEACH, 1965".
Please note that this is a 100% original piece from that event, not a replica.
A unique opportunity, not only to own an important part of both Presidential and Women's Rights history, but also an incredible piece of sculpture.
It would be a centerpiece addition to any JFK, Presidential History, Women's Rights, or Sculpture collection.
We have a number of other important JFK items we will be listing over the next few days… if you collect Kennedy memorabilia, check back soon.
