ORIGINAL 506th PIR T-5 Parachute Jumped In Normandy (Airborne) This is NOT a reproduction but an ORIGINAL T-5 parachute harness jumped in Normandy . I bought the harness about 10 years ago from a Frenchman who lives in Normandy. I was told the harness was found in a barn. The harness and bag were manufactured on June 1943 by Highstown Rug (MFG 43-891739). I believe this is a 506th chute since it was found with the original reserve chute marked "RS" for Robert Sink, the 506th Regimental CO. Through nearly 1000 interviews with WWII Vets, several 506 troopers told me many 506 parachutes were marked in this mannor. The rig contains an original harness and bag. The lower left side of the harness has been cut (this is very typical on original chutes found in Normandy ) by the trooper's trench knife during D-Day. The cut has been expertly repaired. During the jump the blowout panels remained on the end of the static line and are extremely rare, I believe my blowout panel is a reproduction. After the war parachute silk was in huge demand and made into all kinds of things by the locals. This harness does not contain silk attached to the harness. It has been stuffed with the remains of older parachute not attached to the harness. The chute also comes with an original WWII static line. Note: I'm selling the Reserve Chute marked RS for Robert Sink, of Band of Brothers fame, that i bought with this harness SEPARATELY in an auction that runs at the same time. My name is Patrick O'Donnell, and I'm the author of several bestselling airborne books www.thedropzone . I'm not a dealer and hardly ever sell anything, this is my second time using Ebay in the past eight years. About five years ago, I lost all interest in collecting about five years ago and reinforced by actually being in combat with the Marines of Lima Company 3/1 during November 2004 (see more at: or Shootout: D-Day Fallujah a documentary that airs on The History Channel). I have a large collection of original airborne artifacts including all the impossible stuff everyone wants and plan on slowly selling most of my collection at premium prices. So drop me a line, I might just have the reinforced uniform or helmet you have spent years looking for. Buyer pays for shipping and insurance estimated at around $100-125 for USPS/UPS Ground. Buyer pays shipping and insurence (use on-line tables for estimate) seller will ship around the globe. I use USPS or UPS. Shipping cost determined by location. Note: *Estimate is likely higher if buyer wants parachute stuffed with remains of old parachute silk. My next auction with include a fixed bail airborne helmet and liner or M43 jacket and pants (with knee reinforcement and pocket tie downs) from a 507th vet who jumped the Rhine. email me at *****NOTE AWESOME WAAL RIVER MAP with marked German Defenses in auction now at: "The Second D-Day" Original Map of the WAAL Crossing Map carried by Vet who crossed the WAAL Item number: 150152611908 I have many more maps including: Carentan and Normandy, Holland, Africa, Sicily, Bulge, Hurtgen (unit and position hand marked by the vets during the war). Why not have a true piece of history on the wall in the office or den?
