Original Federal issue Pattern 1861 cartridge box for 69 cal. rifled musket ammunition (elongated ball). Leather is pliable with minor cracking to the finish on outer cover. No flaking. Has closing tab, sling loops and both belt loops which are stitched and riveted. Sling buckles are present. Has both tins which are high quality replacements. No plate. Inside flap marked " MADE BY J.I. PITTMAN N-Y" in three lines. A good example of a cartridge box widely used during the first years of the war. Payment by Postal Money Order. Three day inspection.
