Nearly perfectly preserved Abraham Lincoln Post, No. 4 G.A.R. Denver, Colo. Ribbon. Entire ribbon weights almost an ounce and a half! The top is an enamel and metal. The design on it is a golden eagle at the center top holding an 8 star flag. To the outside of that are 2 cannons. A 5 point star below it and you can clearly see the picture inside it of three men gathered and each symbol inside the stars triangled areas. To each side of the Eagle/Star are the two greeneries, and 2 flags each side. The two flags below the topper are material with a 3D rippled effect, flag poles are a gold leaf type embossed onto the ribbon. A red, white and blue bow tied ribbon is attached at the cross over of the flag poles. From that ribbon hangs a medallion of metal with a ceramic center. Inside the medallion is a man wearing a red hat, an American flag in his left arm placing a wreath on top of a memorial stone that says "In Memoriam G.A.R." There are 3 more wreaths at his feet with pink/red flowers (roses?) all around him. The back of the medallion is stamped Whitehead & Hoag Co, Newark, N.J. Patent approved.Beneath the medallion it says...ABRAHAM LINCOLN POST, NO. 4 G.A.R. DENVER, COLO. The background ribbon is a deep rich black with no fade, no fray. The bottom is finished with gold toned rope tassels. Full length is just over 9" x 2.50" wide.
