Al Mar SERE 6 Sawback Model 3006 Pre-Production #PP 022/200 Original Vintage Pre-Production Al Mar SERE Sawback with Genuine Leather Sheath. Overall Length is 12 5/8". Blade length is 7 1/8". This knife has the early style thin Green Micarta (Brown in color) handle with heavy duty full tang and lanyard hole. The later models were made with a little thicker handle. The Stainless Steel hollow ground SAWBACK blade has the name Al Mar in black and the traditional red Al Mar chop. It is tang stamped Seki-Japan. This rare Pre Production #022/200 is one of the more desireable and rare models to find. Blade still has factory grind marks with no signs of secondary sharpening. Near mint condition. No Box, No Papers . Comes with black Genuine leather sheath marked 3006 with the Al Mar chop in excellent condition, shows a little wear (not from being used or worn) and the snap on the stone pocket is missing. Larry Martin had a good relationship with Al Mar and was able to acquire many beautiful prototypes and Pre-Productions for his own personal collection. He began collecting Al Mar knives in the early 1980's and continued until his death in 1992. His collection was one of the best groupings of Al Mar's ever assembled on this planet. His favorites being the 005/200. As many collectors know, Al Mar would order 200 pieces of a new pattern from the factory in Seki-Japan that were sent out to the dealers to test the market. If they sold well they went into full production. The very early ones were prefixed with the letters "PP" Pre-Production. Later the PP was dropped and only numbers were used.
