A uction D escription Up for your consideration is a very old, if not the oldest, pair of Armor Bronze Pirate Bookends. This is indeed a fine 1922 Bronze Clad pair that depicts the quality, artistry, and craftsmanship of this widely renowned deco foundry. The mold used by Armor Bronze to generate this set was later used by Marion Bronze, another deco company that recreated pairs using the exact same process of galvanization that was used during the Deco era. Such galvanized pieces have grown in their appeal and continue to gain notice and abroad. This particular pair has been well-kept for over 80 years and will continue to grow in value, as these originals are becoming scarcer and harder to acquire. The color of the bronze painted bodies is very deep and rich, the polychrome paint is shiny and colorful, and the details are impeccable. The pirate is depicted from the chest up. He wears a billowing white shirt, a maroon cloth around his head, and a large hoop earring. His facial features are fine and detailed, from the ears to the nostrils to the hair of the bushy mustache. Keen attention was even paid to the bases of the stately pieces, as swords, knives, and guns are shown in a raised relief along the sides. You will find this pair to be in very good condition with very minimal wear to the original finish and only a little roughness to a single corner. T is surely nothing obscene or uncommon for pieces this old. The pirate bookends are unsigned but easily identifiable as Armor Bronze for a number of reasons. These mates measure 7" Tall, 6 1/8" Wide, and 3 3/8" Deep. The pair weighs almost 8 lbs. Take a look at the actual photos below to see what is being offered. These could be ideal for the Collector and Bookend Enthusiast. Please feel free to email with questions, inquiries, or any additional information. This item has already been professionally packed and is waiting to be promptly shipped via USPS. To better serve the winner I will send an email that includes Tracking Information for your order!
