Item: Original Antique oil painting of a Lady, signed by artist ‘HALWICHERS’ c1900’s framed Specification: Early 1900’s original oil painting on board, depicting an elegant lady wearing the attire of the era. Signed by the artist in bottom right corner ‘HALWICHERS’. With gilt frame and original framers label on back. Frame size 29.6cm wide x 35.5cm height. Condition: Good original condition with signs of age, a repair to top left of painting & frame. See photo’s. WOW Rare portrait famous artist highly desirable from noble family collection Famous Dutch artist ‘Hendrick A.L. Wichers, (Hal), Hendrick Arend Ludolf Wichers. (1893-1968). Renowned for his talent and profession as; Portrait painter, Landscape painter, Water colourist, Wall painter & Mosaizist. Although the exact year and title is unknown, the painting is authenticated by the artists unique style of signature with extended ‘S’ tailed downwards. The artists work has attracted much attention in galleries and auction houses, fetching thousands of dollars for his landscaped works. This fine and exceptionally rare piece of art, adored by all, stands out for its realism, and represents a wonderful example from the Dutch artist. In good original condition with signs of age and would benefit with a clean, having at some early time a repair to top left of the painting. A small repair to the frame is evident bottom left corner. There is wording within the painting at top left corner, letters that are just visible appear to read: _EWI AMGDEMI On the rear of the painting, the original tape remains in place. The size of frame is 29.6cm wide x 35.5cm height. Image size 22.8cm wide x 27.6cm height. It is with interest, there are notes in pencil on the back that read; ‘No glass’. ‘Mrs Kirby’ - ‘decor old stock’ - ‘Repair frame only’ . Also the original framers label; ‘ Boekhandel en Drukkerij v h. G.C.T. VAN DORP & CO. Boek, Papier en Kunsthandel. Encadreerinrichting. Bopkdrukkerij – Binderj. SOERABAIA’. An historical piece owned by a Noble European family of Dutch origin now releasing several valuable art pieces. The current owners mother was Mrs Kirby (as noted in pencil on back), it is believed to have been acquired by her when she first married in the early 1920's.
