I have the original painting made for the 1977 Welcome Back Kotter vintage metal lunchbox by Aladdin, Ind. The piece size is 13.5" x 16.5". This is the art for the back of the lunch box, originally known to the printer as the "bottom". I believe it was done in acrylics. This is a one of a kind painting. This was the actual art designed for the 1977 Welcome Back Kotter lunch box we know today. I can tell you that I bought a 1977 Welcome Back Kotter lunchbox a few years ago and paid $600 in mint condition. This is the actual artwork for it and I believe holds a value of 5 to 10 times what the lunchbox is worth. That gives this painting an estimated value of $3,000 - $6,000 in my opinion. The art was done by Elmer Lernhardt, the staff Art Director for Aladdin. Elmer passed away in 1985. He was a wrestler from Chicago who was discovered by Bob Burton for his attention to detail. Bob was responsible for the designs to Bob's Big Boy Restaurants among other works. Item is sold as is. Check my other auction.
