Built by Karl Goldner of Solvay, NY in the 20's an excellent example of what could be done with the A-K kit parts. The wiring is quite brittle but servicable. The audio transformers in the TA unit show the proper 1.7K and 3.4K ohm resistance. The rheostat and other filament resistors are fine. The controls all move smoothly. The tube filaments light up. No further testing has been done.
Perhaps your Atwater Kent display would be more complete with this early receiver. Thanks for lookin'. I estimated the mailing box size based on the dimensions of the radio....32 inches wide by 10 inches tall and 10 inches deep. With 4 inches of packing all around that's a package 40 inches by 18 by 18 weighing approx. 30 pounds. I guess the ebay shipping calculator went crazy with those numbers but I ALWAYS REFUND EXCESS COSTS. Thanks for writing. I've been asked about the labeling on the units inside the radio. Left to right.....at the far left are two binding posts: ANTENNA.....GROUND. Around the back of the variometer are 4 brass posts: A1, A2, A3, and G F. The back of the next control (variable capacitor) says "SEXTON CONDENSER". Next is the TA unit: 8 brass terminals around the back on either side of the tube base: B+ A-B- IN TIC on the left side and on the right: TIC +20 +B OUT. The tubes are labeled DET AMPL AMPL. The rheostat is labeled MIN MAX. In front of the TA unit are 5 binding posts: A BATTERY+ A BATTERY- B BATTERY - B BATTERY + B BATTERY + None of these pieces show any signs of wear or abuse......beautiful condition, glossy finish. The bakelite panels the parts are mounted on look very nice and are well fitted into the case. This is the work of a real craftsman.
